“Start saving now so you don’t have the regrets I have today,” Mr. Alfred Moka told his staff at Kokop Primary School.
Kokop Primary school is located at Hagen Central in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands.
Standing before his team, the headmaster shared a powerful message. After 54 years of teaching, Mr. Moka is retiring in July 2026. He looked at the young teachers and told them that his biggest regret was not having a way to save properly when he first started his career.
“If Nambawan Savings and Loan Society (NSLS) had been around a long time ago, I would have joined back then,” he said. He explained that the secret to a good life is simple: “Sevim Moni, Stretim Sindaun”, meaning, ‘Save money to improve your living standard’.
He thanked the NSLS Highlands team for bringing their office directly to the school. He told the young teachers they are lucky to have these modern services right at their doorstep.
Because they trusted their Headmaster’s wisdom, every single teacher present signed up for NSLS that day. They realized that by starting young, they were not just saving money; they were making sure their future would be bright and secure.
