At first, Elvinsa didn’t know about Nambawan Savings and Loan Society (NSLS) or how it could help her. A friend who works at NSLS told her about it, and she became interested. She decided to join on May 15th, 2023. Since then, she has been saving money regularly through her General Savings account. She makes a contribution every two weeks without missing a beat. Her dedication to saving has helped her improve her financial situation.
Elvinsa says, “For now, I am only saving under the General Savings basket, contributing every two weeks. But NSLS has other savings baskets you can also explore should you wished to save with them.” The regular saving has helped her in many ways. It has given her a financial cushion to cover unexpected medical expenses for her family and herself. Having savings gave her peace of mind during difficult times, reducing her stress and letting her focus on other important things.
Her savings also helped her fulfill a personal goal, that is, taking a six-week holiday in Manila. “My savings helped me pay for my trip to Manila. It covered my round-trip plane tickets and my stay,” she explains proudly. Because she saved money regularly, she could afford her flights and a comfortable place to stay. Her holiday became a stress-free experience thanks to her careful planning and saving.
Elvinsa feels inspired by her experience with NSLS and encourages others to save too. She says, “It’s a good way to save money for emergencies, like when someone in the family needs help, or for special trips or goals.” She believes that saving regularly is a strong step toward achieving both short-term needs and future dreams.
